Terms & Conditions

ConnectAsian Terms & Conditions (2026)

1. Matchmaking Services & Dating Groups

1.1 Personal Safety & Responsibility

By signing up to our matchmaking service, you accept full responsibility for your safety when meeting individuals introduced to you. While we conduct basic vetting (e.g., screening applications), we do not conduct criminal background checks. You are strongly encouraged to take safety precautions such as meeting in public places and informing friends or family.

ConnectAsian accepts no liability for incidents or outcomes after introductions.

1.2 Your Due Diligence

You agree to exercise your own judgment when engaging with a match. You are solely responsible for verifying any information shared and making informed decisions regarding communication and meetings.

1.3 Matchmaking Expectations

We aim to connect you with high-quality matches aligned with your values and preferences. However, we do not guarantee any specific number of introductions or a successful romantic outcome.

If you reject three consecutive introductions without good reason, we reserve the right to pause your matchmaking service until you’re ready to actively participate.

1.4 Membership Fees & Cancellations

Commitment to Service
We are committed to delivering our service with reasonable care and skill. While we cannot guarantee the outcome of finding a compatible match, we do guarantee that your profile will be actively considered and that introductions will be sought in line with your stated preferences.

Service Commencement
The matchmaking service begins as soon as you complete your profile (or otherwise provide the information required for us to begin searching). From this point, work on your behalf has commenced, including research, database searching, and initial matchmaking preparation.

Cooling-Off Period
Under UK consumer law, you have a statutory 14-day cooling-off period to cancel most services. However, by completing your profile and allowing us to begin the matchmaking process within this period, you acknowledge and agree that you lose the right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 once the service has started.

Refunds

After the service has commenced, no refunds will be issued.

No partial refunds are given if you choose to withdraw from the process before the end of your agreed term.

Refunds will only be considered and only given at our discretion.

1.5 Match Introductions & Conduct

Once we’ve introduced you to a match, we encourage you to follow up respectfully and in a timely manner. Continued disrespect, ghosting, or abusive communication will result in termination of service without refund.

We may request feedback after matches to improve our service.

1.6 Data Privacy & Confidentiality

We only share limited profile data (e.g., first name, age range, bio) when making introductions. Both parties receive the same info.

You agree to:

  • Keep match details private and confidential
  • Not share screenshots, photos, or personal info of others
  • Not share any experiences with media or online unless you have explicit, written permission

We comply fully with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, and your data will only be processed under the lawful bases of:

  • Contractual necessity (e.g., to provide matchmaking services)
  • Legitimate interests pursued by ConnectAsian, including community safety, moderation, fraud prevention, safeguarding members, service improvement, and maintaining the integrity of the platform.
  • Consent (where applicable, e.g., marketing)

For full details, please see our Privacy Notice.

1.7 Third-Party Tools

We may use third-party platforms (e.g., Google Forms, WhatsApp, Stripe) to manage communication, billing, or data collection. These tools are used under GDPR-compliant contracts. Your data is never sold.

1.8 Personal Data Shared on Third-Party Platforms (WhatsApp, Facebook, etc.)

ConnectAsian uses third-party platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook (operated by Meta) to host community spaces and facilitate member interaction.

For the purposes of UK GDPR:

  • ConnectAsian acts as a data controller in respect of personal data processed for the purpose of operating, moderating, and managing its community spaces (including membership administration, safeguarding, and enforcement of community rules).
  • Meta acts as an independent data controller in respect of personal data processed through its platforms, including platform infrastructure, security, analytics, and general service operation.

This means responsibility for personal data is shared but distinct, depending on how and why the data is processed.

You acknowledge that any personal data you choose to post or share within these platforms (including messages, photos, comments, or profile information) is done voluntarily and at your own discretion.

1.8.1 Your Responsibility When Leaving Our Community Platforms

When you choose to leave any ConnectAsian platform or community space (including WhatsApp or Facebook groups), you are responsible for removing or managing any personal data you have voluntarily shared within those spaces prior to exiting.

Due to the nature of third-party platforms, ConnectAsian does not have full technical control over all user-generated content and cannot guarantee the complete deletion of data shared directly by members within those services.

For GDPR purposes, requests relating to platform-level data (e.g. message history, account metadata, backups) must be directed to the relevant platform provider.

1.8.2 Data Subject Rights & Deletion Requests

You have the right to request access to, rectification of, or erasure of personal data processed by ConnectAsian, in accordance with UK GDPR.

Where a request relates to personal data that ConnectAsian directly controls (e.g. membership records, administrative data), such requests will be handled free of charge, unless the request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.

Where a request requires disproportionate manual effort, including the identification and removal of extensive historical user-generated content across third-party platforms, ConnectAsian reserves the right to:

  • Request clarification to narrow the scope of the request; and/or
  • Charge a reasonable administrative fee, only where permitted by law, and only where the request is manifestly excessive in scope or repetitive in nature.

Any such fee will be:

  • Proportionate to the actual administrative cost incurred
  • Communicated in advance
  • Applied on a case-by-case basis

This does not affect your right to request deletion directly from the relevant platform provider.

1.9 Event Discounts

Discounts may be offered to matchmaking members for some events. These are discretionary and not guaranteed.

1.10 WhatsApp Community & Groups

1.10.1 Paid Access & Community Purpose
Access to ConnectAsian WhatsApp communities and groups is a paid service and forms part of the broader ConnectAsian offering. These groups exist to provide supportive access to a singles community, shared profiles, discussions, and community-led interaction.

By joining, you acknowledge that participation is voluntary and undertaken at your own discretion and risk.

1.10.2 Personal Responsibility & Safety

Your safety within the WhatsApp community and groups is your sole responsibility.

ConnectAsian is not responsible for:

  • How other members use, store, share, or interpret information you voluntarily post
  • Any direct messages, contact, or interactions that occur between members
  • Any actions taken by other members inside or outside the platform

You are responsible for:

  • Deciding what personal data you share
  • Taking appropriate precautions when engaging with others
  • Blocking, reporting, or disengaging from members where necessary

Participation in these groups is a choice, and you accept full responsibility for that choice.

1.10.3 Third-Party Platforms (WhatsApp & Facebook)

WhatsApp and Facebook are third-party platforms operated by Meta.

ConnectAsian does not control the technical operation, security architecture, or data retention policies of these platforms. Participation is subject to Meta’s own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

As outlined in Section 1.8, data controller responsibilities are shared depending on the nature and purpose of processing.

1.10.4 Community Guidelines & Conduct

The WhatsApp groups have thrived for over four years due to clearly defined community guidelines, which are available in the description of each group.

By joining, you agree to:

  • Follow and Comply with the Community Guidelines
  • Engage respectfully with other members
  • Follow directions from volunteer admins and moderators

These guidelines form a binding part of these Terms.

1.10.5 Zero-Tolerance Policy & Removal

This is a high-vibe, respectful community.

The following will result in immediate removal from all ConnectAsian WhatsApp groups:

  • Disrespectful, abusive, disruptive, or inappropriate behaviour
  • Ignoring or challenging admin decisions
  • Undermining the safety, tone, or integrity of the community
  • Any conduct deemed harmful to the group environment

No refunds. No warnings. No second chances.

Removal decisions are final and made at ConnectAsian’s sole discretion.

1.10.6 Membership Cancellation & Community Access

If you cancel your paid membership or subscription:

  • Your access to WhatsApp communities and groups will be removed
  • Continued participation after cancellation is not permitted

1.10.7 No Liability

To the fullest extent permitted under UK law, ConnectAsian accepts no liability for:

  • Loss, damage, distress, or harm arising from participation in WhatsApp groups
  • Member-to-member interactions
  • Use or misuse of personal data shared voluntarily by you

I think this is a much stronger approach. It future-proofs the legal document and means that as ConnectAsian evolves into ConnectAsian 2.0, you won’t need to amend your Terms every time you add another premium benefit.

I’d replace the entire section with the following:

1.11 Enhanced Matchmaking Membership

1.11.1 Nature of the Service

Enhanced Matchmaking Membership is a premium, ongoing membership designed to actively increase a member’s opportunities to meet compatible South Asian singles through a combination of visibility, personalised support, introductions, coaching, and other matchmaking-related services.

Depending on the membership level selected, the service may include (but is not limited to):

  • Spotlight Matchmaking across ConnectAsian social media platforms
  • Featured Instagram Stories or other promotional campaigns
  • Priority consideration for introductions
  • Matchmaking support
  • Personal dating coaching
  • Date preparation sessions
  • Compatibility guidance
  • Video profiles
  • AI-assisted matchmaking
  • Concierge-style introductions
  • Exclusive events or member opportunities
  • Any other premium matchmaking services introduced by ConnectAsian from time to time.

The precise services included within each membership tier are those advertised at the time of purchase.

1.11.2 Minimum Membership Commitment

Due to the significant time investment involved in planning, profile preparation, content creation, promotion, coaching, and ongoing matchmaking, Enhanced Matchmaking Membership is offered as a minimum six (6) month programme, payable monthly unless otherwise agreed.

The minimum commitment enables ConnectAsian to deliver the service effectively and maximise the opportunity for successful introductions.

1.11.3 Cancellation During the Minimum Term

Members may request cancellation of their membership at any time.

However, where cancellation occurs before completion of the initial six-month programme:

  • all future matchmaking activity will cease immediately;
  • no further introductions will be provided;
  • any outstanding Spotlight Matchmaking or promotional activity will be cancelled;
  • ConnectAsian reserves the right to remove any active Spotlight Matchmaking content, social media posts, stories, reels, videos or promotional material relating to the member;
  • any unused coaching sessions, date preparation sessions or other premium benefits included in future months will be forfeited.

No refunds or partial refunds shall be payable for the unexpired portion of the minimum programme except where required under applicable UK consumer legislation.

1.11.4 Social Media Promotion

Enhanced Matchmaking Membership may include promotion across ConnectAsian’s social media channels and partner platforms.

Whilst every reasonable effort will be made to maximise exposure, ConnectAsian cannot guarantee:

  • enquiries;
  • introductions;
  • dates;
  • relationships;
  • marriages;
  • engagement levels;
  • profile reach;
  • impressions;
  • social media performance;
  • algorithmic visibility.

Members acknowledge that social media algorithms are controlled by third-party platforms and remain entirely outside ConnectAsian’s control.

1.11.5 Anonymous Promotion

Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, Spotlight Matchmaking promotions will preserve the member’s anonymity.

Profiles will ordinarily be presented without identifying information that would reasonably allow members of the public to identify the individual.

Members remain responsible for ensuring all information supplied is accurate, truthful and up to date.

1.11.6 Coaching & Premium Benefits

Where coaching sessions, date preparation sessions or other premium services form part of a membership:

  • sessions must normally be used during the relevant membership month;
  • unused sessions do not roll over unless expressly agreed;
  • sessions remain subject to the cancellation and rescheduling policy contained elsewhere within these Terms;
  • ConnectAsian reserves the right to amend or enhance premium benefits over time provided the overall value of the membership is maintained or improved.

1.11.7 Matchmaking Disclaimer

Enhanced Matchmaking Membership is an introduction, visibility and coaching service.

Whilst ConnectAsian will use reasonable skill and care in delivering the service, no guarantee is made regarding:

  • compatibility;
  • mutual attraction;
  • replies;
  • introductions;
  • meetings;
  • relationships;
  • engagements;
  • marriage; or
  • any particular outcome.

Any decision to communicate with or meet another individual remains entirely voluntary and at the discretion of the parties involved.

1.11.8 Suspension or Termination

ConnectAsian reserves the right to suspend or terminate an Enhanced Matchmaking Membership immediately where a member:

  • breaches these Terms;
  • breaches the Community Guidelines;
  • behaves dishonestly or abusively;
  • provides false or misleading information;
  • brings ConnectAsian or its community into disrepute; or
  • otherwise acts in a manner considered inconsistent with the values or integrity of the ConnectAsian community.

Where membership is terminated for breach of these Terms:

  • all promotional activity shall cease immediately;
  • Spotlight Matchmaking content may be removed;
  • coaching and premium services shall cease immediately; and
  • no refund shall be payable except where required by law.

2. Terms for Singles Events

2.1 Eligibility

By attending a ConnectAsian event, you confirm that you are legally single and genuinely seeking a meaningful, long-term relationship.

Attendance by individuals who are married, in a committed relationship, or otherwise misrepresenting their relationship status is strictly prohibited.

Any dishonesty, misrepresentation, or misconduct may result in immediate removal from the event and permanent exclusion from the ConnectAsian community, without refund.

2.2 Behaviour & Code of Conduct

ConnectAsian is a respectful, high-vibe community. By attending our events, you agree to conduct yourself with courtesy, integrity, and consideration towards others.

We operate a zero-tolerance policy for:

  • Harassment, intimidation, or abusive behaviour
  • Discriminatory or offensive language
  • Unwanted advances or boundary violations

Any behaviour deemed inappropriate, unsafe, or disruptive may result in immediate removal from the event and/or community, without refund.

2.3 Photography & Media Consent

ConnectAsian events are social, community-led experiences. To document and promote these events, photography and videography may take place.

Images and short video clips may be used for legitimate promotional and community purposes, including on our website, social media platforms, and marketing materials.

Our lawful basis for processing this media is Legitimate Interest, as visual content is necessary to promote events, grow the community, and provide transparency about the experience we offer.

Opt-Out Procedure

If you do not wish to appear in identifiable photographs or videos, you must:

  1. Notify us in writing at least 48 hours before the event, and
  2. Inform a ConnectAsian team member or event host upon arrival at the event.

Where notice is provided, we will take reasonable and proportionate steps to avoid capturing you in identifiable content. This may include advising photographers or avoiding posed images.

Please note:

  • We cannot guarantee complete exclusion from wide-angle, background, or crowd footage
  • You remain responsible for avoiding cameras and designated recording areas where practicable

Post-Event Media Requests

Where no opt-out notice has been provided in advance, media captured and published will be considered lawful.

Any post-event request for removal will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, in line with UK GDPR, and we will take reasonable and proportionate steps where appropriate.

This does not extend to:

  • Re-editing, recreating, or re-producing content
  • Removing content where an individual is incidental or not readily identifiable
  • Removing content already lawfully published where no prior opt-out was communicated

2.4 Personal Safety at Events

We aim to create safe, welcoming environments. However, attendance and participation are at your own discretion and risk.

ConnectAsian does not conduct criminal background checks on attendees. You are responsible for your personal safety and wellbeing and should exercise appropriate caution when meeting new people.

We strongly recommend:

  • Meeting in public areas
  • Trusting your instincts
  • Reporting any concerns immediately to an event organiser

2.5 Liability Disclaimer

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ConnectAsian accepts no liability for any loss, damage, injury, emotional distress, or outcomes arising before, during, or after an event.

All interactions, conversations, and relationships formed are entered into voluntarily and at your own risk.

2.6 Removal for Misconduct & No Refunds

If you are removed from an event or the wider ConnectAsian community due to a breach of these Terms, community guidelines, or code of conduct, no refunds will be issued.

Decisions made by ConnectAsian or its authorised representatives are final.

2.7 Updates to These Terms

These Terms may be updated periodically to reflect legal, operational, or community changes.

By attending an event or engaging with ConnectAsian services, you agree to be bound by the most recent version of these Terms.

2.8 Code of Conduct, Misconduct & Enforcement

By accessing, joining, or participating in any ConnectAsian activity, including but not limited to in-person events, WhatsApp groups, Facebook groups, online platforms, or direct interactions with other members, you agree to uphold respectful, lawful, and appropriate conduct at all times.

ConnectAsian operates a zero-tolerance policy toward behaviour that includes, but is not limited to:

  • Abusive, threatening, harassing, hateful, or discriminatory language
  • Intimidation, coercion, bullying, or manipulation
  • Sexually explicit, offensive, or predatory behaviour
  • Malicious messaging, trolling, or repeated unwanted contact
  • Any conduct that causes distress, harm, or discomfort to other members

Where ConnectAsian reasonably determines, based on evidence, reports, or member complaints, that an individual has breached this Code of Conduct, ConnectAsian reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to take one or more of the following actions without notice:

  • Immediate removal from events, groups, or platforms
  • Suspension or permanent ban from the community
  • Refusal of future access to services or events
  • Reporting to relevant authorities where appropriate

Public Disclosure & Protection of the Community

In serious cases involving abusive, harmful, or malicious conduct, and where necessary to protect the safety, wellbeing, or integrity of the community, ConnectAsian reserves the right to disclose factual information relating to the individual’s conduct to members or relevant parties.

Any such disclosure will be:

  • Limited to information ConnectAsian reasonably believes to be true
  • Based on documented evidence or substantiated reports
  • Proportionate and necessary for safeguarding purposes
  • Made in good faith and not for the purpose of humiliation or harassment

By agreeing to these Terms, you acknowledge and accept that you waive any right to bring claims against ConnectAsian arising from such disclosure, including but not limited to claims for defamation, reputational damage, or emotional distress, where ConnectAsian has acted reasonably, lawfully, and in accordance with these Terms.

No Retaliation Clause

You further agree that you will not engage in retaliation, harassment, legal threats, or malicious action against ConnectAsian, its directors, staff, volunteers, or members as a result of any enforcement action taken under these Terms.

ConnectAsian operates under Unlimited Choice Ltd and is registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in accordance with data protection requirements.
